you know better than that

Celo ... as usual ... doing what he does.

October 22, 2006: Marcelo Montalva on Little Debbie Arete, Little Debbie Boulder, Carter Lake, CO. What exactly JJ thinks he could do for Celo if he fell off this problem is beyond me. Fortunately, he didn't. He even chucked an extra lap for fun and for the camera.

those occasional clutch photos

Too bad I didn't have a better camera at the time.

October 11, 2003: Justin Jaeger on Gill & I, Campground Boulder, Sylvan Lake, Custer State Park, SD. This was my first day serving as a tour guide in The Black Hills. We hit a lot of areas this day, but this was the first boulder I took the tards to. With 4 or 5 awesome problems, it's a great place to start. The conditions were perfect, cold but sunny, and everyone was psyched. We had a ton of pads and, as usual, Justin went into serious sending mode and dispatched all the Gill classics he tried as well as a few newer things like this problem. Here, JJ sticks the crux move and gets the second ascent of a problem established by Bennett Scott during the filming of Friction Addiction.

answering the question "Why?"

This picture attempts to do so.

November 4, 2006: Me on Flashed Flood, Tunnel 2 Boulder, Clear Creek Canyon, CO. Although only a minute walk from the road and maybe two from the car, once you are at the Tunnel 2 Boulder, the rest of the world drops away. The water from Clear Creek is roaring, there is no cell phone service, no errands to run, no work to be done. Just you, maybe a friend or two and the rock. Do a few problems on perfect rock that seemingly was meant to be climbed upon, maybe concoct a few of problems of your own AND ignore the rest of the world for a little while. It's gymnastic problem-solving with like-minded friends, usually in a beautiful setting with nature all around you, and very few modern-day distractions. It is very simple ... very centering.

project mode 1

We all do it and sometimes, but sometimes we project projects.

November 25, 2006: Brian Camp on the project right of Harder They Come (which later became Do Not Name This Problem - ha!!!), Gandalf Area, Poudre Canyon, CO. Several years elapsed before I finally got a full-value tour of The Gandalf Area. A few true uberclassics like Against Humanity, Gandalf, Free Flow Style and the newer Tractor Beam, a few projects, and a few whatevers. Good day across the river before my assault of Scuba Steve at the 420s just before nightfall. Good job finishing this problem Jay!
