whacked out beta ...

... can make for good photos.
May 6, 2006: Scott Neel on "Jousting Direct", 420s, Poudre Canyon, CO. This problem moves straight up from the start of Jousting at Windmills, hence the moniker. Nice edges and movement on impeccable stone. Everyone else did this problem a little more traditionally, but Scott insisted on reverse underclinging at the crux, which was sick beta that we tried and immediately dismissed as "whack.". Was he hamming it up for the camera? Maybe, but using this beta is NOT recommended if you like your shoulders the way they are.
